Science
Science Curriculum
Our science program is from Pearson/Prentice Hall and is called Science Explorer. This will be your child’s first year in this program, and will follow them through to 8th grade. This year we will be focusing on Earth’s Waters and Earth’s Changing Surface. This is a challenging program with reading in a textbook, hands-on activities, and the use of technology to teach concepts. Students are encouraged to review their readings and notes with parents/guardians when possible, and especially in the days leading up to a quiz or test.
We will also be using three FOSS science programs: Variables, an introduction to the scientific method; Mixtures and Solutions, an introductory chemistry unit; and Landforms, an extension of the Earth’s Changing Surface unit. We will finish the year with a unit in Health.
