During our pre-reading activities, we discussed some of the themes that we would encounter in The Pinballs. One of those themes is “Living with Disappointments”. We can usually categorize these into mini, minor, and major disappointments.
Share a “mini” disappointment and explain how you learned from that experience. Remember not to share anything too personal.

Once when I was dissapointed was when my cousians couldn’t come to Disney World with us .They thought it cost too much money and decided not to come .I learned from that experience that you can’t count on something too much and I can still have fun with my family.

In one of my basketball games last year, the ball was bouncing and me and this kidwent for it. I got the ball but right after that he pushed me twice then I pushed him back on the ground. I was disappointed because I know now if I did not push him he would be the only one who would get thrown out of the game.

I was disappointed when I had to move to a new neighborhood away from my best friend. I learned that even though I missed my friend I had to make new friends.

A dissappointment I’ve had before is when a best friend of mine, Denise moved. We had been friends for quite a long time. What I learned from that is that you can change what has already happened. Meaning, you wish you could undo what has happened, and make a stop to it, but you can’t. That’s what I sorta wish I could do.

A mini disappointment would be my brother ate the last piece of cake, even though I said that piece was mine and it was my birthday cake! The next day he ate the last chocolate chip cookie! I learned by this by getting over it and saying it was no big deal. – Nadine

A dissapointment that I had was when I went to Philly I forgot to bring my homework because I was rushing so when I got home I was really tried but I still had to do it. I learned that you shouldn’t rush when you’re doing or getting something important like your homework.

A mini dissapointment i had was when i was up at bat in a baseball game and grounded out to end the inning. i learned from this at bat that not everything goes the way you want it to. you just have to get over it and move on.
