Chapter 9

June 2nd, 2008

Dear William,

I wanted to write and tell you all about life on the prairie and the family here. The family is nice. There is a girl named Anna and a boy named Caleb. They have a big barn but a little house. The prairie is nice but it looks noting like the sea. You can see miles and miles a way on the prairie. I like it here.

Dear William,
Hi! I miss you! Would you like me to tell you about the prairie and the family?
The prairie rolls like the ocean . There is hardly any trees! The grass stands straight and tall, but when the wind blows it dances from side to side. Also there is NO OCEAN! WAH!
On a normal day we get up and do our chores. Then we can do what we want for the rest of the day. Yah! But we also have to make breafast, lunch , and dinner.

Now I will tell you about the kids and Jacob. Caleb is friendly and loving. Anna is sweet and quite like a mouse.  Jacob is  tough and kind.

I miss you alot! I also miss the ocean. Hopefully I’ll see you soon!

                                                                                                                 Sincerely,

                                                                                                                        Sarah

Dear William,
chchchchch! That’s what it sounds like when you plow.  I wanted to write and tell you all about life on the praire and the family here.
First, the praire is nice. It’s as big as the ocean!! It’s alot different than Maine. There’s no ocean, but the land rolls a little like the sea. There are squalls here just like Maine. Lastly I love to play with my chickens and pet the sheep with their fluffy white wool.

This family is very nice. Anna is a sweet girl. She loves it when I do her hair. Caleb is joyful. He loves to talk and is a good boy who behaves. Jacob is a nice man! He’s very protective and smart. He enjoys singing. The children do too!! Lastly, Old Bess,Jack,Lottie, and Nick. Bess and Jack are their two horses and Lottie and Nick are their two loyal dogs. Lottie and Nick get along with Seal great and Seal is happy!! Bess and Jack help us get into town and plow the property that is huge!!
I am happy and hope to see soon because it feels like you’re a million miles away!!

Sincerely,

Sarah aka shan
P.S.
Have you ever plowed??

Dear William,
WOW! I wanted to write and tell you all about life on the prairie and family here. There is a sweet boy named Caleb and his sister Anna.  Caleb asks me so many questions, about the wonderful sea! Anna tells me her first word and I tell her mine.
Anna’s father made a big sand dune. I loved it, but something was still missing.
They are a great family, and, I’m am looking forward into joining their family.
The big prairies remind me of the wonderful, blue, and green sea, because of its shape.
There are more big trees here. They are as big as the Statue of Liberty!
I hope you can visit!
Sincerly, Sarah

Dear William,

Do you know how it is here in the Midwest? First, I want to tell you where I’m living. I’m living in Kansas in the middle of the U.S.A. I’m very sad because there is no sea here only prairie. The prairie is as big as Maine. I live on a farm with very nice people. Their names are Anna, Caleb and Jacob. They are really nice and they like me a lot too. Did you know that Jacob is teaching me how to plow? I really miss you and I hope someday you can come and visit.

Sincerely,
Sarah

Dear,William

The prarie here is dry and it makes me feel lonely but I’m ok. They have many different things here that we’re not use to. Like no ocean, no sea shells, and its very dry. The house is placed in a very open space.

Well the family is nice there’s Caleb sweet and young, There’s Anna curious and smart, and papa handsome and sweet. The family takes care of each other and treat me well they’re always by my side watching out for me

                   Sincerly,

                                 Sarah

Dear William,

I wanted to write and tell you all about life on the prairie and the family here.  WHOOSH!!  It’s kind of windy here.

Life on the prairie is good but the neighbors live so far away.

The family here is great with Anna, Caleb, and Jacob.  their Mama passed away after Caleb was born. That’s why I came to Kansasto meet them.  I like living here.  I miss you William.  It feels like were a million miles away.

Dear William,

Have you ever missed home? I have. When? Right ever since I came here. I miss home alot. It seems like it has been a million days here.

Here we have Caleb, Anna and Jacob. Caleb is very talkative. He likes to ask questions. Anna is shy and quiet. She’s the opposite of Caleb. Jacob is very nice, but sometimes he says that I can’t do boy jobs.

I wanted to write and tell you all about life on the prairie and the family here. It’s really different. I think it’s fun. I learned alot of things. Like plowing and more.

I miss home alot! Especially the ocean. The land kind of rolls like the sea.

One day I took Anna and Caleb in the cow pond to swim. They enjoyed it. I loved doing it. It reminded me of the sea.

Then one day we had a squall just like we did in Maine. We had to hide in the barn!

I miss you! I’ll write back.
