                                  Welcome to Smithville School 

The 2010-2011 school year began on September 7 with 640 excited children in attendance.  Sixty seven staff members greeted the students and provided a wonderful transition for returning as well as new students to the school.

The Smithville Elementary School community is dedicated to providing all students and staff with an enriching learning environment that promotes academic excellence and personal growth.

Everyone wants to be on the wall of fame! Our new school wide recognition program recognizes students for their achievements in the classroom. Each classroom door is bordered by a new “Wall of Fame” bulletin board. Teachers are displaying outstanding student work to highlight the student’s success. Teachers and students from around the school are taking an extra moment to congratulate those students. Wall of Fame bulletin boards will be changing frequently, so be sure to check them out each time you visit our school!

The third grade students have been learning about culture and diversity in Social Studies class this year.  As a final project they had a Cultural Day Celebration.  Each student had a chance to inform their peers of their heritage and share a cultural recipe.  Many of the students even brought in their cultural dish for everyone to share. Thank you for all of the delicious dishes!
