Chapters 14-16 Discussion

Posted by: | December 4, 2009 | 39 Comments |

As you have read, have you been able to make any connections to the novel?

A text-to-self (T/S) connection is connecting the text to yourself and things that have happened to you.

A text-to-text (T/T) connection is connecting the text to something else that you have read.

A text-to-world (T/W) connection is connecting the text to something you have learned or understand.

Try to share a connection and identify which of the above it is. Also include any comments or predictions you may have! Keep up the great work!

OMG!!!!!!!!!! I can’t believe that Mrs. Pagett sent a search warrant to Bobby’s house to see if he was there!!!!! I think that in the end Bobby & Alicia will fall in a deep passionate love!!!
    Peace out,
    :) Ryan K. FLemming :)

A connection that happened in the story for me would be the fact that Bobby’s mom was yelling at him for telling Alicia’s parents he was invisible. This has happened to me sometimes when i tell a secret about my mom or something else.

It is so interesting and funny when Alicia`s mom gives bobby the robe and Alicia`s mom freaks out when she finds out that Bobby is usually naked.

Chapters 14-16 were turning on the heat! Wow, that Ms.Pagett was not kidding when she said she will get a search warrent. I couldn’t stop turning pages. Round 1 was great…… And the trophy goes to…. da da da naaa….. Mrs. Phillips for attitude. But round 2 goes to… wa wa waaaa…. Ms.Pagett. Lets see who will win the Bobby Battle in round 3.

  8. By: Halie on December 4, 2009 at 9:43 am

OMG, Ms. Pagett is a creeper! I can’t believe she just barged into the Phillips’ house. “We gotta see bobby” Weirddddd and creepish.

I can make a connection to Bobby being invisible because my house is infested with ghosts. And ghosts are invisible so that’s a connection. XD

My prediction–I think Bobby’s parents will be arrested because the cops can’t find Bobby and so he’ll have to live on his own forevah.

i know that was funny, its like ” oh, what’s this Bobby like?’ and alicia’s like, ” You know, cool, funny, naked…” lol

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Chapter 16 is awesome because I cant beileive that bobby’s mom and dad might go to jail. :)

  11. By: Nick on December 4, 2009 at 9:44 am

Yes I could make lots of connecttions with the novel. I could make a connection with Bobby’s mom. When the police came to their house, I could feel her anger and pain. I wouldn’t want anyone to come into my house. :) :) :) :)

  12. By: Halie on December 4, 2009 at 9:44 am

LOL, that was funny. =3 “When it’s really cold, he wears Saran wrap, but most of the time he’s naked.”

  13. By: Lea on December 4, 2009 at 9:44 am

My connection to the book is that Alicia said she read the book called The Invisible Man. The connection is that I’m reading that book too!

  14. By: Kate on December 4, 2009 at 9:45 am

I think that I could make a T\S because I know how bobby feels because hes in a weird situation and I have been in weird situations before and This book is very awsome so yea and stuff :)

  15. By: Halie on December 4, 2009 at 9:45 am

Wow, really? Can I borrow it when you’re done reading it? XD

  16. By: Nick on December 4, 2009 at 9:46 am

Jail! Bye bye mom and dad!!!!! well bobby’s mom and dad… :(

  17. By: Steven N. on December 4, 2009 at 9:46 am

  18. By: Halie on December 4, 2009 at 9:46 am

  19. By: Sarah on December 4, 2009 at 9:47 am

i know but on weird thing is that Bobby doesn’t wear anything, but wouldn’t you be embarresed even thougth ur invisible?

  20. By: Lea on December 4, 2009 at 9:47 am

I think it’s funny how Alicia’s mom said “stay right here” and then ran really fast to get a robe! :)

  21. By: Nick on December 4, 2009 at 9:47 am

What is going to happen next?????? :( :) :( :)

  22. By: Gracie on December 4, 2009 at 9:48 am

I think this story is so intresting and i would love to read more about it! It also does have some humor in it . But the main question i wonder is what made Bobby invivsible in the first place? I can’t wait to read more and see what is coming up next! I wish i could trade places with Bobby so i can be turned invisble and play some pranks on people. But one thing i don’t like is that I would have to hide from the police and other law enforcement.

  23. By: Halie on December 4, 2009 at 9:48 am

    Nah. I wouldn’t. ^_^; I’d just be sorta uncomfortable.

(Lea, can I borrow The Invisible Man when you’re done with it?)

  24. By: Advaita on December 4, 2009 at 9:48 am

:D I can connect to the story because I had the cops come to my house before just not for the same reason.

The cops came to my house when my neighbors were practicing a fire drill and there son really called 911!!!

I was so scared when the cop car had arrived at my door.

I predict that the cops are going to find out bobbies storie and it is going to be on the national news.
If this happen it can connect to another book called Frindle when a boy name nick invents a new word and it is also on the national news!!!

    That’s creepy, Adu. O.o

  26. By: Nick on December 4, 2009 at 10:32 am

The story is kind of lacking detail..

  27. By: Mrs. Pross on December 6, 2009 at 7:54 pm

I’m glad that everyone seems to be enjoying the book so far. It is a page turner! Keep up the great work, I loved your comments.

  28. By: Kate on December 9, 2009 at 9:46 am

i think that the story sould get a little more happier than it is now because the story is really sad like when alicia yelled at bobby for no reson.

  29. By: Halie on December 9, 2009 at 9:46 am

    For 17-18:

    Short reading, but whatever. I think the electric blanket did make Bobby invisible, since the author always makes a reference to science or whatnot–you know. Stuff about not reflecting light, etc. Confusing. So is Bobby getting invisible with a balnket. o.o;
@Nick: How the heck is it lacking detail?

    ~Halie~

Thx sarah. I go to the library too

  31. By: Jonathan on December 9, 2009 at 10:36 am

:( I thought that one of the cnoections was that everybody has problems not as serouies as Bobby’s proublems:(

    :( JONATHAN GRANADOS:(

  32. By: Gracie on December 9, 2009 at 10:37 am

I think that Bobby and Alicia will fall in love or something because it seems like they get along a lot. I wonder if the case is that Bobby is really turning invisible because of a normal electric blanket or what if it might be more serious?!

  33. By: Jonathan on December 9, 2009 at 10:38 am

:) I agree with you Halie that’s what I think too!!!!!!!:)

    :) Jonathan Granados:)

Chapter 17 and 18 are so interesting.

Mr.dunn it is a text to world connection for me because in real life people d have electric blankets that give of more energy then they should.

  35. By: Steven N. on December 11, 2009 at 9:38 am

This is so cool 15 16 is AWESOME! I love it OMG.

  36. By: Sarah on December 11, 2009 at 9:40 am

its so weird because i can make a connection because i have an electric blanket at home and when you are under it it feels like you dont weigh anything, kinda like being invisible.

  37. By: Steven N. on December 11, 2009 at 9:42 am

I think alicia might because she’s blind like in the sad story’s.:-

  38. By: Steven N. on December 11, 2009 at 9:45 am

    :)

  39. By: Lea on December 11, 2009 at 9:46 am

THAT IS SO WEIRD!!!!!! And cool. So they make you feel invisible? That’s ironic!!!!:)
